REMOTE MARKETING CONSULTANT JOBS

Marketing Consultant for One Local Market

Remote, project-based consulting for people who know one market from the inside

The country and language matrix is already built. Of its 48 country pages and 35 language pages, almost every one ships without a named specialist behind it. This role puts names on that matrix. You cover one market you actually know: how people there search, which platforms matter beyond Google, what the local compliance and payment reality is, and whether a translated asset will land. You support the SEO, PPC, and ASO specialists on delivery, and they keep their scopes. Pay is deal-based, a 40% share of what each unit you deliver earns, with no salary and no retainer.

ROLE OVERVIEW

What You Will Actually Do

Five billable units inside one market, not open-ended advisory.

Responsibilities

You own the market context that delivery specialists cannot get out of a keyword tool.

  • Market brief How demand, platforms, competition, and compliance actually work in your market, written so a specialist in another country can act on it
  • Local search and SERP review What the keyword set and the results page really look like in the local language, including the engines and aggregators that are not Google
  • Localization review Reading a translated asset before it ships and saying plainly whether it lands or still reads like a translation
  • Local platform setup The channels that are not Google or Meta in your market: what they are, what they cost, and how buying actually works there
  • Scope consultation Working sessions with the SEO, PPC, or ASO specialist who owns the delivery, so their execution fits the market
  • Named market ownership Putting your name on the country and language pages you cover

Requirements

What we need from you to be effective in this role.

  • Market depth Real operating experience in one market: how people search there, what they trust, and what they ignore
  • Marketing breadth Enough range across search, paid, content, and social to brief a specialist without doing their job for them
  • Working language Native or near-native in the language of your market, plus excellent written and spoken English, because all internal communication runs in English
  • Written judgment You can write a brief that a specialist somewhere else can act on without a call to decode it
  • Ownership mindset Readiness to be accountable for the market context you supply

Nice to have

Not required, but these make you a stronger fit.

  • Second market Depth in a neighboring market or another country inside the same language cluster
  • Localization background Hands-on translation, transcreation, or localization quality review experience
  • Market entry work Past market entry, distribution, or go-to-market projects run inside your market
WHAT YOU GET

Why market consultants choose this over agencies and in-house roles

Four things you get here that typical marketing consultant jobs do not offer.

vs a crowded bench

You own a market nobody here covers

48 country pages and 35 language pages are live, and almost none of them has a named specialist yet. You take a market that is currently empty, with no queue of people with the same profile ahead of you.

vs in-house roles

Your market knowledge is the product

In-house, local knowledge is background context nobody pays for separately. Here it is the billable unit: briefs, SERP reviews, localization reviews, platform setup, consultations.

vs freelancing

Your work compounds from brief to brief

Shared templates, SOPs, and quality gates. Each market brief builds on the last one. You never rebuild your research format from scratch for the next client.

vs agency roles

Your name stays on the market

Named ownership on the country and language pages you cover. Your market becomes visible under your name, not buried under an anonymous agency layer.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

Common questions about marketing consultant jobs at Onlinuum

How the role works, what to expect, and how compensation is structured.

Does this role compete with the SEO or PPC specialist roles?

No, and that separation is deliberate. The discipline specialists own execution: audits, campaigns, store listings, links, reporting. You own the market context they cannot get from a tool. A marketing consultant does not take SEO or PPC scopes away from anyone and is not paid out of anyone else's share. When a German SERP review or a Turkish platform question comes up, the specialist keeps the scope and you get a consultation unit next to it. If you are an SEO or PPC candidate reading this page, the SEO and PPC positions are the right place to apply.

How do marketing consultants get matched to markets and clients?

Through the market you cover. When an engagement touches a country or language you own, you get matched to the units inside it: the brief, the SERP review, the localization review, the platform setup, the consultation with whoever delivers. The system tracks which markets and languages each person covers, and matching runs on that coverage. One consultant usually covers one market deeply and is called into every engagement that touches it.

What does a typical work week look like for a market consultant here?

It is lighter and more irregular than a delivery role. Some weeks are a single localization review and one call. Others are a full market brief plus platform research, which is closer to 20 hours. Work arrives as defined units, each with a deliverable and a deadline. Most consultants keep this alongside their own clients or an in-house job, which is why the engagement is project-based by design.

What is the salary for a freelance marketing consultant here?

There is no fixed marketing consultant salary. Earnings are the house 40% core share of the revenue your delivered units generate, unchanged from the delivery roles. A market brief, a SERP review, a localization review, a platform setup, and a consultation are all sellable to a client on their own, so the payout is traceable to what you shipped. On top of revenue share, 20% of company profit is distributed annually across the team.

Do I have to cover more than one market?

No. One market known properly is worth more here than three known from reports. The whole point of the role is depth that a central team cannot fake: local search behavior, the platforms that matter beyond Google, advertising and consent rules, payment habits, how a translated line actually reads. If you happen to cover a second market or a language cluster, that widens the engagements you fit. Selection is based on depth in the first market.

What if my market is not in the priority list?

Write anyway. The priority markets are where demand is loudest right now. The catalogue is wider: 48 countries and 35 languages have live pages and most of them are still uncovered. If your market has a page and no name behind it, that is a reason to talk now. Several markets were added because a strong person showed up first and the coverage followed.

Do I need to be a generalist across every channel?

You need enough range to brief specialists across channels. If you can explain how search, paid, content, and social behave in your market and where they differ from the assumptions a central team would bring, that is the bar. Deep channel craft is what the SEO, PPC, and ASO specialists are for, and you work next to them.
